“Skin and Other Pigment Cells: Bridging Clinical Medicine and Science”

   바이오스펙트럼㈜ 생명과학연구소는 2011년 9월 20일부터 9월 24일까지 프랑스 보르도 (Bordeaux, France)에서 5일에 걸쳐 진행된 국제색소세포컨퍼런스 (2011 IPCC)에 참가하여 3가지 주제의 연구 포스터를 발표하고, 색소세포 전반에 걸친 최근의 연구 흐름을 파악하였다. 9월 21일 Opening으로 IPCC Special Lecture “Twenty-five years of ESPCR” 을 시작으로, 4일 동안 Plenary session으로는 [1] Tracking the precursors/Developmental biology, [2] Stem cells: Facts, fancy, fiction? [3] Fundamental aspects of the initiation and progression of melanoma, [4] Translational research/vitiligo에 대한 내용이 진행되었으며, 각 Plenary session 후에 다양한 주제의 concurrent session이 진행되었고, 총 172개의 Pigment 관련 다양한 주제의 연구 포스터가 전시되었다. 또한, Astellas, Avene eau thermal, Clarins, Galderma, L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, P&G, Wiley 등 다양한 업체의 후원이 함께 하였다.

    특이할 만한 연구 강의 중 하나는, 일본 Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NIST)의 Takahashi 박사의 “Live imaging of melanosome transfer in the developing skin” 강연으로, 기존의 melanosome transfer에 대한 다양한 이론들 (sometime controversial)을 처음으로 정렬하여 발표한 내용이다. 즉, Live skin에서 melanin transfer의 direct한 visualization을 보여줌으로써, melanin granules이 skin의 membrane vesicles을 통해서 transfer됨을 증명하였다. 그 외에 melanocyte stem cells에서의 Notch signaling의 필요성이라든지, vitiligo induction 및 therapy model로의 새로운 concept들, melanin-pigmented skin의 새로운 marker 등, 다양한 연구 결과들이 강연되었다.

  본 사 생명공학연구소는 천연물 유래 “BSP family” 3종을 이용하여 3가지 주제 (Vitiligo, UVB-induced DNA damage, Atopic disease)를 가지고 그 효과를 확인한 바, 그 결과를 금번 컨퍼런스에 아래와 같이 포스터로 보고하였다.
